Helping Artists Succeed In A Connected World

Simple Internet Marketing Tips for Artists

Here are a few simple web and Internet promotion tips that any artist can take advantage of regardless of technical knowledge or budget. We'll be exploring these and other tips in greater detail in the near future.

If you have a web site

  • If you have a web site with your own domain name use an email address with your domain name (myname@mydomain.com) as well. Your hosting provider probably has a guide with the simple instructions to do this.
  • Create a signature file in your email client for use on your email messages with a clickable link to your web site (you'll need http:// at the beginning). You'll be surprised by how many people will click that link and visit your site.
  • Advance your Internet knowledge. Learn about tools and technologies that can make your Internet marketing efforts more effective. From email marketing to blogs to online news releases there are a variety of ways to promote yourself. Bookmark our blog and visit here often as we'll be providing you with lots of free information and links that will help further your Internet marketing knowledge.

If you don't yet have a web site

  • If you are planning to have a website consider purchasing your preferred domain name now if it is available.
  • We recommend purchasing the Whois privacy option with your domain name. This substitutes generic information on your domain name file at Whois, protecting your identity. Most domain providers charge something under $10 per year per domain for the privacy option.
  • If you belong to an arts organization which offers member artists a web page or profile  take advantage of that program. Keep this page once you have a web site, you can usually add a link to your web site from the page.
  • Use web space provided by your Internet Service Provider. You won't be able to use your own domain name but it offers you a way to have your own basic web presence until you can have a web site of your own.

Participate on Social Media Sites

  • Maintain your profiles on social media sites, like ArtistPresentations.com, Facebook, and Twitter.
  • Join in the discussions and post updates about your milestones, new work, and things that interest you in general.
  • Don't forget to also promote other artist's in your updates, too. A kind word now and then about others helps them and reflects well on you.

These are just a few tips to help you get started or refine your Internet marketing and brand building. As mentioned earlier, we'll soon be posting considerably more on this subject.
