Interior, Bayley House, Pilot Hill, California
This image is of one of the second floor rooms in the Bayley House. The room had fine woodwork, hand painted wallpaper, and French doors leading out to the veranda. Sadly, when we stopped by a year later this fireplace had been obliterated by vandals.
Since making our image the building has been in a state of decline. There is hope that the building will be restored. The Georgetown Divide Recreation District (owner of the Bayley House) is raising money to restore the building for use as a museum related to the area’s history. Their web site for the project is www.bayleyhouse.net. The web site also has more history about the Bayley House.
