About Me
Kim Romena's Biography
My Great Grandparents came to the San Joaquin Valley from Russia and started a photo-finishing business called Reiman's Camera Shop. I have had several family members over the years in the photo business, but it wasn't until my forties that I became interested in the darkroom. I started out with just a point-and-shoot camera, but I was most captivated by darkroom procedures. Right away I found myself drawn to architectural decay as my subject of choice. I transitioned into digital in 2005 with the Canon D20 and Photoshop CS2. I'm pretty much self taught, with the exception of a few workshops and some help from a small circle of photo friends. I have done commercial work and a few weddings, but I'm more interested in photography in a documentary style, and in pursuing my artistic journey.
