I was born in Northern California and my family moved to the Bay Area when I was young so my Dad could work in the Shipyards in Richmond for Kaiser Steel.  I was raised in Martinez and as I look back on it, it was a great little town to grow up in.  I went to the California Maritime Academy and after graduation I started going to sea as a Licensed Deck Officer in the Merchant Marine.  I got married in '68 and decided to come ashore and work where I could be home more often so I went to work for a trucking company, Consolidated Freightways.

After 29 years with CF I took an early retirement to be home more as my wife was very ill and needed someone with her a lot.  After a short while I realized that the retirement check was not enough so I went to work in Sacramento area as a foreman in a warehouse then back to a trucking company, a Beneto Tank Lines, as a dispatcher and then Terminal Manager.  My wife passed away in 2005 and I continued to work until the "job burn out" really set in, so in 2008 I retired again.  I met a fantastic woman on eHarmony and really started to enjoy retirement and actually enjoy life.

I am now living in Vacaville and finding out there is life after years of hard work.  I am starting to take life a little easier and living everyday to the fullest with the pressure and pace of the "rat race"
