January 1995 – Present (17 years 1 month)
I started Artistic Legends in 1995 to fullfil a long held desire to own my own business. I moved the company and family to Fortuna in 2003 and incorporated in 2007. We provide graphic related services and products including: Graphic Design, Printing, Publishing, Website Design and Hosting, Custom Screen Printing, Custom Embroidery and Promotional Products.
National Product Manager Duck Unlimited, Inc.
September 1991 – January 1995 (3 years 5 months)
In 1991 I was offered the position of National Product Manager and I accepted. I move from Southern California to Chicago and then to Memphis, Tennessee when the new DU National Headquarters facility was completed. As the National Product Manager I was responsible for managing an annual budget of $16,000,000 to provide Ducks Unlimited branded products to over 5,000 DU Chapter fund raising events. My Special Projects Department team managed product development, contract negotiations, catalog design and printing, quality control and product distribution.
Regional Director Duck Unlimited, Inc.
September 1987 – January 1991 (3 years 5 months)
In 1987 the position of South California Regional Director became vacant and having been involve with the Escondido DU Chapter since 1977 I applied for the job and was hired. My job as the DU Regional Director for four Southern California counties - San Diego, Imperial, Riverside and San Bernardino was to coordinate the fund raising efforts of 27 DU Chapters.

January 1985 – September 1987 (2 years 9 months)
In 1985 my work was done at the Bressi Ranch and I had just finished my graduate work at San Diego State University. During my graduate studies I was serving as a graduate teaching assistant at Palomar College. Upon receiving my MA Degree the Dean of the Industrial Technology Department offered me a teaching position and I taught industrial technology classes for two years.
Assistant General Manager Bressi Ranch
April 1980 – November 1985 (5 years 8 months)
In 1980 I was promoted to Assistant Manager and was given the responsibility of coordinating with the City of Carlsbad the development of the property master plan. This included the annexation process and the property development mix - single and multi residential units, commercial, light industrial, open space and traffic circulation. Security Director Bressi Ranch
January 1976 – March 1980 (4 years 3 months)
I was first hired as the Security Director for the ranch and was responsible for the security of the property and the safety of the workers of the farmers that were leasing land for agricultural purposes. During this time I was required to attend the San Diego Sheriffs Academy and graduated in 1979. I was also attending San Diego State University working toward my degree in Business Management.
Customer Extension Planner San Diego Gas & Electric
January 1971 – June 1975 (4 years 6 months)
For the first year of my employment with San Diego Gas & Electric I was a laborer with a underground electric crew and eventually worked my way to the position of digging crew foreman. In 1972 I applied for the position of Customer Extension Planner and my application was accepted. As a Customer Extension Planner you are the liaison between the customer and company. The position required nine months of extensive training covering customer relations, single and multi-family services, subdivision and commercial electrical infrastructure development and coordination.
Combat Engineer United States Marine Corps

August 1966 – April 1970 (3 years 9 months)
I joined the Marine Corps for four years right out of high school in Memphis, Tennessee and went to Perris Island for boot camp, Camp Lejeune for Infantry Training Regiment and Combat Engineer School. In March 1967 after completing Staging Battalion training at Camp Pendleton I went to Vietnam. I was stationed in I Corps which bordered the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) which separated South Vietnam from its northern enemy at the Dong Ha base camp with the 11th Engineer Battalion. We built fire bases along the DMZ - Khe Suah, Con Thien, C2 and A3 - we constructed bunkers, mine fields and artillery implacements. I was wounded in September 1967 at Con Thien.
