Drive to Mt. Everest

This morning we woke up at 3:30 in the morning so we could get to the lookout in time for sunrise. It was dark and snowing out and we could hardly see the road. At least we couldn't see the edge of the cliff through the snow. When we got to the lookout we could barely see 20 feet ahead of us so we didn't stay there but continued to Rongbuk Monastery where we would be spending the night. By the time we got there the snow had stopped but it was still cloudy and we couldn't see Mt. Everest. We spent time sitting in the guesthouse writing our version of the "Twelve Days of Tibet" it was a lot of fun! In the afternoon the clouds rose a bit and we could see part of Mt. Everest so everyone was a bit happier. It was really cold sleeping in the Monastery Guesthouse, there was no heat and we are at 16,700 feet in elevation. We used sleeping bags on the rock hard beds.
